Good afternoon Gardening Lovelies, a Lady at work has given me lots of plants for my garden. She gave me two cuttings from her Fuchsia plant (I love Fuchsias) and said to put them in water until some roots grow, then into little pots until they grow bigger, then plant in the garden.

Sounded simple :) However, they have been in the water for nearly a month now and although the stems and leaves are still lovely and straight/strong, not a hint of root from either of them

Am I just being impatient  or should I be doing something else to encourage them please?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Lynne

      Hi

Where are you keeping them ? as a sunny windowsill should get them to root in 4 to 6 weeks

Hi Spruce, yes they are on my lounge windowsill which is really sunny is the afternoons, although not direct sun. I haven't changed the water, perhaps I should do that?

        Many thanks, Lynne

yes change the water weekly is best , I think they have been too cool with the temperature , but if still looking healthy should be fine , some are easy in water to root but others like to be in compost straight away.

Great thanks Spruce, I will change the water now. I will move them to the upstairs bedroom windowsill, it has the same aspect but it is warmer up stairs. The Teasel seed I had have all grown up there, so hopefully the Fuchsia will like it better up there to.

If nothing happens in another couple of weeks, perhaps I will try them in small pots and compost:noidea:

Many thanks again Spruce, have a lovely evening.
