Found several of these whilst digging up a patch of lawn (making a border) and this one is wriggling like crazy!

Anyone know what these will turn into?

    Thanks!

Well, as I saw at least 100 black beetles running around whilst digging the lawn, it was my first thought !! I just can't help but think the little pupae is bigger than the beetles themselves, that's what made me doubt it could be them! I should have put something in the picture for scale!

Hi Pupae can be bigger before they turn into something else so it could be the beetle you have seen
