Dahlia advice please

I have a Dahlia growing in a pot that's reached full size and is about to flower problem is I'm not happy about how it looks in the pot is it possiable to pot on at this stage into bigger pot.

You don't say if it's a small bedding type or full sized? If it's of the smaller type, yes you could and probably should pot it on. If its the larger type, it really needs to be in the ground. A pic would help.

It's a 2 to 3 feet pompom type.
Just worried about disturbing the roots might cause it problems.

 

I have a daliah problem too! I've grown some from seed they are really healthy & tall but no sign of flowers, am I being too impatient?
@Adam D, I'd say if you are very careful you could move it, just make sure you keep the root ball in tact. If it's in a pot with other plants thats going to be tricky! As Freddy said a photo would help if you could pop one on for us to see that would be great

 

Pot on with no hesitation, just water well once potted on including giving the leaves a good spraying. The photo show my Dahlias which I had just dug up from the greenhouse border and planted out. Lots of root disturbance and the Dahlias were at least 3ft tall. They drooped a bit for the 1st couple of days as it was quite hot and very windy. Watered loads and they soon recovered. They are beginning to flower now. Yours won't even notice they've been potted on!

Yes, a 'proper' Dahlia Ok, needs sticking in the ground ASAP. They're fairly robust, just water a couple of hours before planting, then water in well. Should be fine

 

I've gone and put it into a small planter container it still had plenty of room in its original container but I think it looks more at home in this one and plenty of room no problems what so ever.

 

Hi Adam That planter looks fine to me, I grow my dahlia's two to a 40 litre tub and they are quite happy and reach full size,
