Tree ID Please

Hi Can someone please advise on the ID of this tree.
It is tall and thin and we are unsure what to expect from it.
Photo of the leaf is not great but can get another if required.

Might be a boysey one then, or there's not another near to polinate it. See if it flowers in the spring

 

The neighbour on the other side of the garden has this cherry tree
It is exactly parallel with my one and about 6 meters away on the opposite border.

That is disappointing. It is right on the border of next door where we are going to erect a fence so I may well dig him up and replace with something else a bit more flowery.

I thought that the flowers of cherries have both male and female working "bits"

However some trees need a 2nd nearby tree ..flowering at the same time, to cross pollinate the flowers, in order to get the fruits.
Some trees are self fertile and don't need the 2nd tree.

Does that mean I can plant another nearby and they will both flower? Or is there hope for this one yet?
I cannot see any evidence of buds flowers fruit, it only has leaves.

I am not sure what to recommend.
It is quite tall and thin.
I wonder if was planted as an ornamental cherry for the flowers only eg Prunus amanogawa

Cherry trees can get large...does your garden have room for another?
Even if you got cross pollination in my experience the birds will get the fruit before you do...
even if you could net the tree, it would be extremely hard to keep them out.

Wait till the spring and see what it looks like.
If you like the blossom ...keep it.
If not chop it down.

 

Im ok with the wildlife eating the cherries SS, I can always pop to supermarket for mine

I dont like to dig up trees so I will probably leave it, it is so thin that I can easily plant something else nearby.

How tall is the tree Slugmuncher? I think I would pollard the top part of the tree to give it some shape, that may encourage new growth further down although it won't help the flower/fruit situation.

 

Hi Sheal without a tape measure and sunlight I would say between 10 and 12 feet.
The second picture from the top gives you an idea compared with the fence 4'.
I just had a quick look a pollarding and it appears only certain trees qualify. Is it just a matter of cutting the top off in the winter?
