Mine are in a Tupperware box along with any perennial labels that were attached to plants. There's also blank re-usable plastic labels, my miniature plastic dibber and two pronged fork and spade for handling seedlings and a pencil. The seed packets will be in growing order depending on germination time or whether the plants are slow growers. :)

I really wish it was that easy :) my whole garden is like a cobweb, where ever I dig, even after treating the area with roundup, the roots are still there and need removing as new growth is evident even after a number of treatments. So much has died without evidence and it is only when I start digging do I find the roots.... big roots most of the time! Even the smallest job turns out to be a mammoth task at the moment... its so blinking annoying

You lot don't make it easy, do :thud:you !

          I only wanted a simple answer:dbgrtmb:

I have two boxes, one veg the other for flowers, I just wanted to sub file
the flowers mainly. But yesterday I got my flower box in a bit of a muddle,
and thought there must be a simpler way .

          :rolleyespink:

Because I hate throwing anything away:nonofinger:

And when I see a packet of something exotic, I think 'that's nice' Ill have them.:ideaIPB: then
they get put in the 'box'. Perhaps I should 'Open the box', or should I 'Take the money'
Oh, there I go, off on another tangent.:wallbanging:

I have all my flowers and veg seeds together in one box (one of the flat-pack CD boxes from Aldi), which allows me to store most seed packs on their side easily. I have dividers for each month, for the first month of sowing, and then I try each month to look through the month, sow what I can, if they have multiple months sowing, move onto the next month, etc.

The idea is that each month I know what I can sow. If I sow them, they go back to the first month of sowing. If I decide not to sow this year (no space/time?), they go back to the first month of sowing.

Downside of this system. I end up with summer veg ready too early, then struggle to get them in the ground. At the beginning of the year, I'm sowing on the first month. By May/June, I'm out of space, time, so summer and autumn sowings can get missed. Still to work out a better system.

Oh, the box is in hubby's office, on one of the cd shelves. The coolest room in the main part of the house (had major mouse problems earlier this year in the garage), no direct sunlight, not taking up valuable beer selection space in the fridge (seriously!!), and not too "out of the way", so I am more inclined to look through when I have a spare 10 mins...

                  Shoe boxes ...

                  Seed Storage.jpg

Flowers, veg (bean sprouts, cress, spring onions ... veg is too abundant, fresh and cheap here to grow your own ... plus it's too hot!) and labels/empty packets.

I do like "M" and sort through them a lot and then put them back in the cupboard till inspiration strikes me again.

I have a wooden box that was one of those port and cheese gift set things - it is split into two sides, and the original idea was that one side would be for flowers the other for edibles. Of course, the reality is that it is stuffed with seed packets and envelopes of all sorts, some empty, some half full, and there is a liberal sprinkling of all sorts of seeds that have fell out of their packets rattling around in the bottom - - if it ever gets wet, it will probably take root!

I really must clear it out sometime....... :snork:

                        Hi FC,
Just imagine the excitement of sowing all the unknown seeds and waiting to see what comes up :)

No imagining - that is a normal spring around here

I even get plants popping up as freebies (like the malva zebrina that I have loads of in the tile gaps in my patio this year, that I can't bring myself to get rid of, see the bottom of this pic for a couple):

And even when they are sown, they can still get mixed up (especially if they are tomatoes!)

Don't even mention getting Tomato seeds mixed up. I have Moneymaker all but bringing down my greenhouse with their weight/height as I planted them in hanging baskets in the greenhouse. I have to have the roof windows open at all times as they have grown out through them and some rather meagre looking Garden Pearl in massive pots....sigh!

Well, I have decided to put into 2 sections:-

One for edibles and another for flowers, obviously

The flowers I am going to put alphabetical, as you would :blue thumb:
with divison strips, ah pretty :rolleyespink:.

I have four tubs - one for Salvia, one for self collected, one for still not sown and one for sown. Like Anthony they're in alphabetical order.

I can't believe that you had to ask! I must admit that my unsown box is getting embarrassing.
