I was wondering if any one had any ideas on why three trees in my parents garden have died this year

They don't use weed killers and the last tree the rowan two trunks are dead and one is fine and the bark on the dead ones have gone brown rather than the silvery coloured bark

The last two trees are near each other but the dead lilac is on the other side of the garden.

    No other trees have died

    Any ideas?

Good morning @Dips I lost two Rowan tree's this year but all I could find out from a friend of mine was it was due to being in clay soil and lots of rain we had ,amounting to poor drainage, sorry I couldn't be of more help my friend:smile:

Ah thank you wise owl :-)

My mums garden has the opposite problem it can get quite dry but she does have water systems in place

My dad dumps a lot of ash from the wood burning stove just on to the garden. Could this be causing problems at all?

Altho saying that no ash gets dumped where the lilac is

Dont think there is anything on that thread that is relevent but thank you @wiseowl :-)

Whats weird is there is no signs or fungas or problems with the bark they have just died and they are all of different ages and different types of trees

I have just remembered that there was another tree/shrub near the rowan and the blossom tree that was dead this year or last year and they did remove that this year but the acer that was living underneath it and the other trees near it are fine

They also have a laurel removed this year and three fir trees which werent dead just no longer wanted

Im just giving this info incase it does actually reveal anything

I think it might be fire blight Dips. It affects some trees and shrubs which die very quickly and spreads if you don't control it. Rowans in particular are prone. I would remove any trees or shrubs that are affected as soon as possible to stop the spread and any dead foliage that may be laying around them. The remains should be burnt or binned and not composted.

              Thank you sheal

Altho im not sure it is as i googled it and all the trees it majorly effects that are near by these ones are fine and they dont have any of the symptoms showing.

The trees will be getting removed eventually unfortunately time is a big issue for my parents so we will see how quickly.
