    Any thoughts???
Has Germany started something they now want to stop?
Is Britain doing the right thing by only accepting those from camps in Jordan etc.?

Can Europe cope with the numbers that want to come here?

Lots of questions, but not any real answers.

My personal thoughts will wait till later.

Just wondering how you all are thinking?

I think we should do more. All we do right now is fund nato billions a year, give 12 billion to the EEC every year, give about 14 billion a year in foreign aid, gave 1 billion already to the Syrian refugees, give millions in gift aid, raise millions in one off fundraisers etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc.
And people think we should do more ? This at a time when child poverty is going up again, people are eating from food banks, theres people dieing because the NHS cant treat because of funding issues, millions are unemployed and millions are on the housing waiting list and yet people want us to spend more solving the worlds problems.
Do the British just hate their own people so much they would rather watch them suffer than spend more at home instead of saving the world.
The UK population is 60 millions. THE world population is c. 6billions. We cant save the world.
Or have the British just got some hang up about still trying tobe the head of a massive empire and they wish they were still colonialists at heart ?

Can we get one thing straight from the beginning please ?

Are we talking refugees or migrants ?

As for refugees, true ones, I think that we are right to take them straight from the camps and I think that is what all countries should do.

I don't feel that taking in pure illegal immigrants is right.

I am getting fed up with seeing teenagers jumping on the " refugee " bandwagon just to use our ( by this I mean Europe ) education facilities etc.

Also people who are so well dressed ( new trainers, clothes etc ) that are obviously just trying to abuse the system.

I just know how I would feel if , for example someone took my life from me, everything I know, my family, my friends, my job, my home, my belongings, my town, my city, my country, bloody glad I'm not them. Hope this offends no one, I have a grandma aged 97 she went through similar, when will it stop?

I must confess, there is a part of me that really wonders why more is not being done to sort the root of the problem. Just how far are ISIS etc going to be allowed to ride rough-shod over people before they are given what for?

I have every sympathy for those who are being forced from their home countries, and of course the right thing to do is to treat those poor desperate people with compassion and to try to help them, but - - but, we simply do not have the space, money or anything else for that matter to continually cater for the outfall from this crisis.

And that is not to mention the destruction that is being done not only to towns, cities and infrastructure, but also to world heritage sites etc.

Maybe it is time the civilised world got together, and bloody annihilate ISIS etc for once and for all.

This is a dreadful situation & I honestly don't know the answer.
All of these refugees are from planet earth just like we are! They do need help & id like to help them BUT I'm not sure if we can as a country take on 20,000 people, we don't have enough housing, school places, doctors surgerys & look at the NHS is on its knees etc. Having said that I can't bare the thought of these people in temporary accommodation or trying to flee their own country so they aren't killed, raped, beat etc etc it's a dreadful humanitarian disaster.
My biggest fear is...are we allowing huge numbers of Isis members to move into our country?
I really don't know what we should do!

Am I the only person here who dares to say out loud that a lot of these people are actually migrants and NOT refugees.

No, you aren't - we spoke in similar terms the other day at work, mostly in relation to those who were in such dire straits that they were still able to take their selfies on their Samsung Galaxy 6's......

                  Hi Loki,
What do you mean, by " these people have to go somewhere ".

I personally think all migrants should be put on a boat/ plane straight back home.

There are clearly two groups, those who are genuinely desperate and in need of as much help and compassion as humanity can give, and those who are seeking to improve their lives (nothing wrong with that), but who are nowhere near as desperate as the former. For that reason, I think Cameron is probably right this time - by taking only those from the refugee camps in Syria, we are helping those who are almost guaranteed to the most in need. Sadly, there will be those that slip the net.

What worries me is that there is little or nothing being done to stem the flow, or to help these people stay where they most likely want to stay (as long as it was without fear or persecution), in their homes. Couple that with the fact that there are increasing threats against the US and Europe (or The West may be more appropriate), and you have to wonder if it is going to take another 9/11 type event before some action is taken.

That requires "Boots on the ground", FC, and there isn't one European country that's willing to do that. Turkey definitely doesn't want to do that, the USA doesn't want to do that. Russia is supplying Bashar al-Assads's armed forces because they want the use of Tartus the Syrian port as a Naval base. None of the Middle East countries want to get involved as they wish to protect the security of their oil production....and why fight a war when someone else will do it for you?!!:dunno::coffee:

Hi, what I mean is this has happened before. Not in this country but this has happened before. I'm not talking immigrants (look at stats in this area) Sorry if I'm ranting, my grandmother is 97 god knows what she would make of people needing help being turned away

We take more immigrants percentage wise but we still welcome anyone who needs help
