@Dips I did ask my Doc and she said that eventually my ears should settle down but I did a stupid thing and started doing internet searches, have now read so many 'horror' stories I have frightened myself even more!!

      I wouldn't worry.

Remember everybody's body responds differently so even tho these things have happened to some people it wont have happened to the majority and the odds are in your favour.

Just dnt stress about it because stress never makes thing better anyway

Val my G.P. explained to me, in layman's terms. to understand the workings of the inner ear.
He said think of a tunnel running from one ear to the next and in the tunnel there are thousands of hairs .
When working in loud conditions the hairs stand up to protect you from loud noises
If these loud noises continue ,say in my case over a long number of years with piercing sounds rushing through the tunnel ,the hairs collapse and die, thus leaving the tunnel almost wide open thus causing Tinnitus.
I don't think your Diazepam would have caused any lasting damage to your Cochlea=inner ear.

@music I am taking the Diazepam to try to calm myself down, the drug I am discontinuing is an Antidepressant, I'm not convinced the Doctors really know what these 'brain drugs' will do or not do, been reading scary stuff about neurotransmitters.

Step away from the computer val and stop reading

The internet can be amazing but also really awful when it comes to things like this. Lots and lots of scare stories which don't apply to many.

Sound advice @Dips , most of us reading the threads have been affected due to some sort of trauma, noise or physical, I think once you stop the meds it will settle back down with no long term damage.

@pamsdish I'm sure you're right, I've just got myself into panic mode!!!

@Dips absolutely true, but somehow you just can't resist looking it up.

Many many thanks to all my 'friends' on here who have replied to this thread. Gonna take a break from the computer for a few weeks to get myself back together.
