Does The DT Situation Give You the Tremors?

There's 2 things I'm really proud about my Father, he,

1) Fought the Blackshirts on the streets of London. He may have taken to buying 'dodgy' newspapers later in life, or purchasing Thatcher's shares sell offs, but the fact of what he did so many years ago still fills me with admiration.

2) Inspired my love of gardening, probably from about 4 years old.

 

This is what he said. Yes, I think there's bigotry involved but he didn't actually call a ban forever:

"Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on."

and then

"According to Pew Research, among others, there is great hatred towards Americans by large segments of the Muslim population. Most recently, a poll from the Center for Security Policy released data showing “25% of those polled agreed that violence against Americans here in the United States is justified as a part of the global jihad” and 51% of those polled, “agreed that Muslims in America should have the choice of being governed according to Shariah.” Shariah authorizes such atrocities as murder against non-believers who won’t convert, beheadings and more unthinkable acts that pose great harm to Americans, especially women."

No comment... just worried...

 

But @CanadianLori, is he also calling for a complete ban on westborough Baptist church, or the KKK? Or all Baptists just in case they are as radical as the westborough Baptist church? Or all white people just in case they are white supremacists? Or all mentally ill people on the off chance they might storm some school?

Of course there are some Muslims that hate America. Some people, regardless of race or religion, just hate. Over the course of my life so far, I've had people tell me they hate me. Doesn't mean everyone does, or that those people are a threat.

If trump keeps spouting his hatredtowards one group, and if people keep showing great support for him, it's inevitable that some people will be upset. I wouldbe. If trump said "clueless1 is not welcome here" and thousands of people who don't even know me cheered, I'd be upset.

 

@clueless1 my goodness, I looked at my post again and don't see where it says I agree with the silly man!

Canada is taking in 25,000 Syrians who are no doubt mostly Muslim. I don't care what their religion is as long as they bring no harm to my country or countrymen.

I hope Redstar chimes in to let us know her thoughts as it is her country that is affected by all of this rhetoric.

 

Not heard of an IS terrorist or bomber, up till now who is not a Muslim.

When they take hostages they tend to let the ones go that can quote the Koran.

Of course what Trump said is stupid, not possible and unworkable.

What he said about London is probably based on how we allow the hate preachers to spread their teachings on street corners, with apparently the police doing nothing, for fear of upsetting the Muslim community.


If the Christians were to stand up and condemn Muslims in a similar manner they would very quickly be silenced, as stirring up race hate.

I definitely dont agree with Trump, mainly because he's 30yrs too late.

 

He will get elected president and promptly take us to war with Russia and China who will kick his ass and ours aswell as we will no doubt do what the americans tell us to do as normal.
I plan on gardening as the world goes to hell all around me

 

Sorry if I gave the impression I was having a go at you. I really wasn't. I was just pointing out that while the press has sensationalised things no doubt, every possible interpretation of what he said still boils down to him singling out one entire group, while overlooking other groups that are known to be full of hate.

@pete, IS and Muslims are not the same thing. I am an Englishman. If I was to commit an act of evil in the name of England, would that mean that you, as a fellow Englishman, should be held responsible?

Its not about if you are an Englishman or not, its about what, (as Ziggy would put it), "imaginary friend" you follow.
And Muslims seem to be very susceptible to being, "radicalised" as they like to call it, basically a kop out for being a raving nutter.
