Good morning @Oldtyke my friend yes you could ,but it is a shrub Rose but if left it could reach 8/9ft in height, translated it means "Queen of the Violets"
Bred by Mille-Mallet (France, 1860),almost thorn less and a very strong scent,Mauve or mauve blend Hybrid Perpetual.Violet, lighter center. Strong fragrance. 50 to 75 petals. Average diameter 4.25". Very large, very full (41+ petals), cupped, quartered, reflexed bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season,Loves some shade:smile:

    Parentage/
seedling of Pope Pius IX (hybrid perpetual, Vibert, 1849)

Sadly my Aldi roses have failed to perform thus far, hopefully because they are in their first year. I find even the shrub ones very leggy for some reason. I pegged them down but didn't get more than a couple of flowers this year, whereas my New David Austens have flowered constantly. Maybe you do get what you pay for?...

@Oldtyke it would make a good small climber, mine have sent out 4ft+ shoots this year.

Still going well on the 12th December. Perhaps we'll be able to pick a bunch for Christmas Day like we did last year :)

WOW Anthony that is a lovely rose, I hope you manage to pick a bunch for Christmas. I think I will have to try harder with all mine next year as other than Absolutely Fabulous the rest were a disaster

There are some scented patio roses, "Heidi Klum" for example.

                          Good morning all.

                              Good morning @wiseowl

Quite correct. Our friends at Tantau rate it as being susceptible to both. They also consider the fragrance as intoxicating.

Incidentally, they do not list this years rose of the year in their latest catalogue.
