Latest moan from you and me - 2016

Happy Green Year Everyone.


My first New Year moan... why can't we please have sand put up in smaller bags? My back is aching again. 20 kilos of bird seed the other day, now 20 kilos of sand .. I weigh about 9 stone so this packaging makes me sore, literally....


Guess I'll need a spritzer to ease things...v

 

My faulty memory,,,,,, just looked at the bird seed bill, it was 25 kilos. No wonder it felt heavy

 

Marks and Spencers - is it just me? I've noticed that M&S shoppers seem to walk infront of me, block my way and force me to change course etc. - it's just bad manners - which is why I will only go in there if I'm 'desperate'.

In Argos the other day - one cashier and the automated pay points were out of action. The one cashier was engaged for a good 20 minutes by someone returning an item. If it wasn't for the fact I was buying a birthday present, I would have left after 5 mins. The queue was enormous.

I was chating to some family members, then my phone rang and it was a call i was waiting for (not Good) when i finnished one of the family members asked me

"the person was Miss Jiff",
what did she want,

well Miss Jiff has just said that her mother has just died half hour ago, you could have cut the air with a knife

 

I never answer the phone while in the company of others. If it is an important call I have been waiting for, I excuse myself and leave the room to answer. I have been sitting at the table having a drink or meal with someone and when their phone rings, they start into a conversation with the caller. No apology, no excuse me, nothing. So I never dine with them again. That to me is as rude as chewing with your mouth open.

 

Nothing quite frosts my goat like some rude obnoxious loudmouth sitting 3 tables away bellowing into his or her cell phone while I am trying to enjoy my dinner, unless it is rude obnoxious noisy misbehaving children of whose parents are oblivious or probably just don't care.

 

I did, i went out side, but the person still wanted to know who it was, so i tolled him, i think he learned a big lesson

 

The last time that happened in restaurant, the kid hollered for a good 20 minutes drowning out everyone. The father finally picked him up and took him outside. I sat there and clapped when the door slammed behind him so that the mother would see that they had long overstayed their welcome. Other patrons gave me funny looks but I feel sometimes one has to make a point.

 

People not taking account of difficult driving conditions.
We eventually have hit winter and have both snow (not much about 2 inches) and plenty of ice. While most of the main roads have been gritted (not enough snow to need ploughing) they are still quite tricky in places.
I think the main issue is that we don't have severe winters every year (hardly any snow or freezing temperatures last year) so new/inexperienced drivers are ignorant as to road conditions.
Yesterday early evening, my Daughter and I drove into our nearest town. The roads were decidedly iffy in places. Daughter was driving her very speedy permanent 4 wheel drive car (Subaru Impreza 330S, the S makes a massive difference) at about 40 mhp on the main road sections and slightly slower on bends we know can be very icy and on untreated roads. She I may say has 3 driving licences, the normal car 1 a class 2 lorry and class 1 artic licence as well so knows a thing or two about driving as drove artics as a full time job all over Britain for 5 years. She has also tried her hand at a few rallies. During the 8 mile journey to the town we were over taken 3 times, and on the way home 5 times. The roads we were on a not busy main thoroughfares either. 1 of the 5 lost their back end and all but ended up in a field. If they had, they'd have called it an accident, I wouldn't, it was just a stupid, ignorant, arrogant, piece of driving which presuming they had insurance we'd all have had to pay for in reality. Yes slow drivers drive me bonkers in good conditions during daylight hours but with below freezing temperatures on roads that certainly hadn't been gritted since the early morning and in the dark why doesn't it dawn on folk to take the foot off the gas a bit? End of rant

I spend a lot of my time driving on the back roads & I get so cross with idiots who overtake in the freezing/snowy/icy/foggy conditions. Hubby was a retain fire fighter for about 16 years & I can assure you he's been to his fair share of accidents caused by idiots driving too fast I bad weather.
We have a teenager in the village who decided it was really cool to speed through the village in his new car, he would cut across the sharpe bend, drive so fast at the junction that he lost control of the back end of his car etc etc when his mates were in the car it was even worse! Anyway one day I was gardening he went up & down speeding etc so I jumped out I front of his car (totally stupid thing to do) I gave him the lecture of his life & now we have a sensible teenager who drives nicely through the village but if you see him on the main drag to Bury well look out he drives like a twit! It's only a matter of time before he or someone else gets hurt. Others In the village have spoken to his parents but they aren't interested!

 

An ever increasing number of people behind the steering wheel are driving like this nowadays and not just around country roads.

When I did the airport run, back in December, I was totally astonished at the deplorable level of driving. As I remarked to Mr "M" - I feel as though they took their driving lessons straight out of Grand Theft Auto It's positively manic out there at times.

 

I recently learned to drive a manual transmission. Unfortunately the only footwork I'd seen was from "gone in 60 seconds" so it took me a little to realize that the clutch needed bringing up slowly if I didn't want to stall the engine...

We have the same problem here with people who don't slow down a little when the roads are slick.

I get annoyed with people who don't signal. Signals and brake lights are pretty much the only means of communication we have with a car so why don't people use those signals!

 

You could be onto something here @"M". The possible blur between pretend and reality. I was chatting to a young lad the other day and we got onto the subject of what he wanted to do when he was older. He asked me what I had done after leaving school. I told him that I had become a professional tennis player. He then proudly told me he was an "expert" at tennis. Slightly surprised I asked him where he played and was he getting any kind of coaching. He looked at me as tho I had 3 heads and said of course he played it on his Wii U....what did I reply? I was speechless
