They say you can practise self-hypnosis. I have often wonder how that works.........I mean there you are under your own influence - how do you snap out of it?

They were talking about this today on the radio. I would love to try it, but in very controlled circumstances - none of that 'come on the stage' business!

If I worked for me for something, I would blockbook sessions, lol.

    cheers

I would love to be regressed under hypnosis........... I find that subject fascinating. You never know who you could be re-incarnated from?! It would have to be scientifically carried out though - none of those hokus pokus bods doing it.

My Husband was hypnotised on holiday a few years ago.
It was one of those silly things where they get you to do daft stuff on stage.
I never believed in it , and always thought it was put on with plants in the audience.
My Husband did it and it was hilarious.
But after he felt ill for days.
Kept having dizzy turns lost his balance a few times and had trouble remembering .
He had a terrible headache for about 48 hours,
    He wouldn't do it again.
    But that was for fun.
For help and medical issues it's probably different.

Did you go back to the hynotist Lyn? I would have if for nothing else than just to find out if your husband could be helped to feel OK again. It's quite worrying if you think people have that reaction but I suppose it also proves that it works & it could do a lot of good.

    cheers

No we didn't get a chance to go and see him again.
He was one of the acts that go from resort to resort and wasn't due back until the following week after we had come home.
It was strange though, some people went under straight away some never did and had to sit back in their seats and a lady not even joining in went under in the audience.
I never believed it until I saw it myself.
It was funny but got a bit worrying the longer it went on.
I could see that my Husband was getting very stressed out at the things he was having to do.
He said it was a very strange feeling , he knew what he was doing but couldn't stop it.
He was drained of energy after.
    Very pale and shaky.
His eyes were like saucers .
It was in Gran Canaria ,Puerto rico in the fiesta bar.
The man did say different people had different reactions to it .
My Husband was the most reactive.
Out of about 20 people at the end only about 3 were left and the other 2 just went into a sort of trance.

Will post a short serious reply.

Yes. I have been hypnotized by a proper medical practitioner. I now do my own self hypnosis. It is a very useful thing to learn to get rid of stresses and other things.

But you must be taught by someone from the medical profession and not one of these high street sharks...that can lead to dire consequences.

I also use it to help with pain. It does work, if you practice self hypnosis every day. I mean EVERY day. Once you get used to it, you can even do it say in Doctors surgeries etc whilst you are waiting. Or dentists, hospitals even in the office at lunchtime.

Now these two things are going to seem ridiculous but it's true, but please don't ask me how or why it works, truth be told I really don't know. Since learning self-hypnosis properly.

I haven't had a common cold for over 20 years. Just use it when I feel a cold coming on and it stops in its tracks.
I can now make myself impervious to nettle stings and the resulting rash. Of which I used to suffer terribly with.
But there are still things I have to take antihistamine tablets for.

But I can't get it to work regarding non-smoking, which is a bit of a let down.

As it's self hypnosis, then re-the last sentence..I can understand why it doesn't work...because deep inside my subconscious..I don't want to give up.
