I have this very large shrub in my garden and I'm wondering if it is an ornamental bay or an edible variety.

I am still buying dried bay leaves to flavour my food as I am nervous that I may poison myself if I use this!

Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

I am 90% certain it is culinary.

To be sure, crush a leaf: if it smells like bay it is edible :)
