Thanks Longk, possibly. A friend of mine is looking for it, so I'll pass this on.

 

The trouble is Nestles and Cadburys are messing with the recipes to give an American taste, not quite as we remember them.

 

You could try one of those old-fshioned sweet shops with lots of jars containing bonfire toffee - there must be one left somewhere. Maybe Pontefract?
