Nerines (Bowden)

So I was in Home Bargains today and noticed they had some Nerines for sale, they are quite pricey £1.50 for one pack that contains just one bulb. Anyway bought 13 packs as just one bulb by itself would look not good, think I would need a few in a shallow dish to look good, been curious with these when I saw Uncle Mont do these on GW. Anyone else grown these?

 

Just planted pack of 3 from Lidl -£2.49 for 3 very healthy large bulbs.
Easy if in well drained position and get plenty of sun. In my mum's garden they used to end up half out of the soil, I think the bulbs liked it, because they flowered well.

 

I have found they grow well in an east facing border next to a wall where it is quite dry. I started with 5 and over the years they have multiplied well. Yes they do grow better halfway out. I think the bulbs ripen better then.

 

I only grow mine in pots and find they do better when south facing. Been in the GH for some time now in order to avoid our incessant rain.

 

They need all the sunshine with their necks in the sun.
