It's fair to say that I've been under a lot of stress over the last few months but an event today reduced me to tears, St. Valentine's day and I received an unexpected gift......
Our gorgeous black German Shepherd girl visited me upstairs and literally gave me her bone!

    THAT'S LOVE.

I think they feel when their human needs something. I know when I was going through my divorce my dog leaned more on me than usual and would put his paw on my knee when I was crying. He normally did not put his paw on me at all. this was about 40 years ago.

I know what stress means ... 18 months bed/wheelchair bound, three major ops in 12 months, 42 days in hospital, just walking again with one crutch after 2-1/2 years, lunch with our with friends in the sunshine on Valentines Day. Bring it on!

... and my cats have been with me through it all ... :cat-kittyandsmiley::cat-kittyandsmiley:

@Victoria and everyone else, what brilliant and inspiring stories of resilience and finding happiness you are spreading. My hat is off to you all, thanks so much for sharing!

On a lighter note, pets do go the extra mile to incorporate human happiness. My dog Mitja was fully aware of the demands of a young adult human life so never woke me up on weekend mornings. Instead, she checked if my eyelids were still closed and if I appeared to be in deep sleep.

There's nothing more disturbing than waking up with a wet nose a millimeter above your eyelid and a dog who is actually trying to hold her breath in order not to wake you up :)
