The Snip !

Hi,

Have got some mixed Strawberry and Polka Raspberry plants arriving soon.

Seems some suggest cutting the root ball back by about half, partic the Strawberries which can often have a massive tangle of roots.

Any suggestions as to which method is better ?

 

I’ve not heard of this, trimming the roots. I don’t know what others think, but I would just plant them.

 

I have never heard of trimming strawberry plants, but I have trimmed raspberries at times if I have move them or like last season when I planted new bare root plants.

Raspberries are very vigorous and I trim their roots to fit in a reasonable size planting hole.
