Actually yes I can. do we know the profile of the senate and house then, was it majority democrat or republican. just because there is a republican president does not mean its all about republican. Democrats want to lower the standard of Americans, anything having to do with that it was a democrat involvement.

Opening up a moth balled factory is not as simple as flipping a switch; equipment may need updating or replacing, certainly reprogramming and testing, probably updating to comply with modern legal requirements regarding safety and pollution. You have to source and bring in components, you also need a workforce, they will require training also who's going to fund this reopening.
Also where is that workforce coming from? Over here many British people don't want that type of job are US citizens any different?

?[/QUOTE] I don't imagine for a minute that changing legislation to suit his purposes poses a problem for M.Trump. Good, valid points otherwise ...

@Obelix-Vendée I did the interesting IQ test in that link (I'm peculiar and like doing IQ tests :heehee:) and it is the type of test known as a Culture Fair Test. The only part of it that I think was extraneous to the test but connected was that they wanted me to pay £1 for the certificate. My inner Scrooge rebelled. :roflol:

It was quite a good Culture Fair Test :blue thumb: so I can recommend it - but don't try it on a small screen.

I suspect he did the same Google search that I did, and read the AI overview. I did one for Immingham, the UKs largest container port, and AI stated it moves 23 containers per day !

Is @redstar seriously suggesting that outsourcing of manufacturing to China and other Far East countries only started under Biden?

Rather like Mr. T's promise to build a wall between the US and Mexico to stop immigration, wouldn't it just be much simpler to ban all imports to the US from every other country ? No more taking advantage of or victimising the USA. I imagine it would also concentrate minds and ensure more effort is put into producing what they require rather than wasting time plotting to take over other countries simply to ravage their natural resources. Not a simple task by any means nor will it be instant. Admittedly, the mantra would have to change from MAGA to MAP but you can't have it both ways:wallbanging:

AI overview is rubbish, but it's quite tricky getting good answers.
However the UK's busiest port's website says they handle 4 million TEUs per year (TEU = Twenty Foot Equivalent Units) in other words 10 - 11 thousand daily. So around 5000 coming in every day is a good guess I think.
I did find one figure for the US here
this was 11 million TEU per year = 30136 TEU per day, so 30000 TEU per day would seem more reasonable than 300 to my mind. He also estimates this to be around 194 cubic ft of stuff per American per year.
However I also found this https://www.marketwatch.com/story/a...ion-shipping-containers-last-year-11645539342 referring to 2021 when around 50 million TEU passed through the US's 9 largest ports per year. So about 25 million TEU coming in, so about 68,000 TEU per day.
Note not all containers will be arriving from China.

No, did not say that at all. been going on for too many years, needs to be corrected. So we do not continue to make China wealthy. Keep our money here.

I would suggest that the US of A stops importing everything. That way they won’t have to fret about being ripped off by anyone and can show the rest of the world how truly great they are.

don't assume they have been closed for years. and remember those millions of illegal immigrants we have here. Some need to go, but some probably will stay.

In case you did not really hear the information, the tariffs are like for like. Not the high percentage that they used to be.
