I can't see a thread covering this type of thing so thought I'd start one.

We were at Birmingham Airport on Monday, going through the Fast Track security channel. We'd scanned and gone through when the security guy stopped my wife. "Can I see your Fast Track document please?" My wife handed over her bit of paper. "Can you explain why you are using somebody else's authorisation?" My wife looked puzzled. "Is your name Keith?" and a grin came on his face after looking absolutely serious to that point. At that point I suggested he might get into trouble for making such assumptions in this day and age, and things aren't always as they seem. I said I could report him for that, to which he replied "Please do, and I can have the rest of the day off". I said "No I won't, just to spite you". Laughter from all parties and off we went. I'm guessing it was a quiet day, but great that security can have a laugh with people.
I don't know what it is about my wife and I, but people do seem to relax around us in those sort of situations.
Today we were in our local. It was seriously short staffed and one of the few on duty was heading to a store room. I said it was pretty hectic and he replied that he'd been in since opening for breakfast (this was 2pm) and he hadn't had a break. I asked if the manager hadn't come down and his response, paraphrased, was that "we must be joking as all he does is the ******* rotas, we never see him when it's busy". This from a guy I just chat to over the bar, but seemed confident that what was said wouldn't be passed on, despite us knowing the landlord for years. He was right by the way :-)
