I usually cut off any roots that come through the bottom after they finish flowering.

I cut back a bit and put in the garage, any leaves fall off and I only water if it getting bone dry.
They seem to survive OK like that without any heat as long as they have got woody growth.

Hello Brug Lovers. I need advice on what to do with this sad one I did from seed and have blooms. It tried to die in our excessively hot summer, but it is alive.

I need to/want to cut it, but where, so I can plant the cut off bit.

Thank you in advance for your thoughts/advice.

I think you could cut that back quite hard if you want a bush type plant, if you want a standard, then I would cut one stem back to the base and form the head from the growth at the top of the remaining stem, maybe a stake to straighten it up.

I'd cut the piece you cut off into 8in lengths and stand them an a jar with about 3 to 4 ins of water, put in a light but not overly hot place and wait, change the water if it gets smelly.

It should root in about 5 or 6 weeks.
              That's just what I would do.

Edit, if you do the water rooting make sure you get them the right way up.

Thanks Pete, I knew you had done this before. I was thinking at the dog leg. Just below or above. I can't find how to do marking! Doh! Or take the new bit off the to. I just plan on sticking them in the soil.. I have never done well rooting in water.

I'd take one back to the Y if you want a standard, or take off both above the Y if you want a bush.

Nice @strongylodon ! I'll have to check if my g. semperflorens is flowering. I need to get some cuttings off it - it's looking a bit dodgy.
How hardy do you find the kunzea?

Apologies, this shouldn't be in the Brug thread.
The grevillea was bought as a small plant earlier in the year. The Kunzea is in a pot and I haven't chanced it outside in winter so I don't know how hardy it is.
