    H.E.L.P. PLEASE

I've just bought some Lathyrus Tingitanus Rosea seeds and looking for them on the interwebby thingy has driven me mental.

They are clearly labelled by Suttons as "perennial variety", however half the information I've found says perennial but half says half hardy annual.

Is this just another case of profiteering by companies who should know better (eg my pet hate as everyone who knows me knows "annual Fuchsias"), or have Suttons got this one wrong ?

They also don't have the big blousy flowers of the Sweet Pea being rather similar to Lathyrus Latifolius but slightly scented.

Has anyone grown or seen these before ? WP_20150527_001.jpg

    No experience of them, sorry.

Nowt to lose by trying them as a perennial though (I'm having enough failures with my annual ones at the moment  )

      Hi M"

Thanks, I think what I'm going to do is sow half now and keep the other half till early next year.
That way If they don't overwinter I'll have some in reserve.

        Or, try thirds?
Pop 1/3 in now; pop a 2nd 1/3 in around Autumn time (they can pretend they were freshly fallen from the plant) and then the final 1/3 next year?
Still may not give you a true idea of its perennial nature though ... as I said earlier, from a whole packet of seeds, only two from one variety has actually bothered to make the effort to grow :rolleyespink: On that basis, even if your Autumn seeds don't over winter outside you still won't know for a certainty that it isn't simply a lazy batch.

          That's a good idea "M", I hadn't thought of that.

          Thanks :)
