My daughter took this picture in Malaysia. The plant was quite a large bush with shiny leaves. She had it noted as bougainvillea, which it obviously is not. Anyone got any ideas? She didn't think it was perfumed. [IMG]
Not easy I know- just hoped someone might recognise it. Anyone know anything about Sundaville?

Morning, Liz. I have Mandevilla and it looks like that to me. Mine is red with a yellow throat called Scarlet Pimpernel. The other name for it is Dipladena.

Thanks both- that's it, I think!
Following your leads I found Sundaville is a red variety- I bought one for my other daughter in Morrisons last year, and thought it looked like this plant. Morrisons aren't very good with plant names.

There's also My Fair Lady, pink in bud opening white with pink shadings, and Red Riding Hood with bright pink flowers, which is the one you see here most.

Rosa bought one a few months ago, from Tesco I think, and hers said Dipladena on it.

Just catching up, I used to grow these when they were known as Dipladena, it is only in recent years as they have emerged as a increasingly popular GC and supermarket plant that the renaming has occured.
They need warm and light conditions with some himidity so they don't always do well in the home but when they are right they grow like the clappers. [IMG]

Got an idea its an Adenium, I can see the similarities to dipladenia/ mandevilla, but as far as I know they are twining climbers.
Those succulent rubbery stems look like the seedlings I am growing.

I have, but I can't remember that far back(no it wasn't the Malay Insurgency!) seeing any Mandevillea or Adenium but I do remember seeing my signature name for the first time there. [IMG]
