Solved Strange fungus

    I have a strange white fungus (I think) growing out of the grass. I’ve dug it up one and it’s come back. I also have another instance of it around 2-3m away. Does anyone know what it is and can offer any other information?

    Yes the Fungi you have there is a harmless Lingzhi - ganoderma fungi. These fungi grow on dead organic matter. In lawns, it usually means there is a dead tree root below the surface. As digging up the old root wouldmake a mess in the lawn I would simply leave it alone and let it run its course.. You can knock them off when they appear. I would think may show up once in a while for a few years until the root decomposes.

          Thank you for your inputs.
          I don’t believe it’s the dog vomit/slime mould as the consistency is quite hard. I’m not 100% sure it’s Lingzhi as what comes up on google doesn’t seem to look the same as what I’ve got.
          I moved into a new build and it was just hardcore and then soil and turf then went down so perhaps the tree root was in the soil.
          I’ve included 2 more pictures for reference.
          Is there away I can remove it or will you believe it’ll disappear over time?

          Agree new pics don't look like dog vomit, slime mould.
          I have a friend who knows his fungus...but who is away.
          When he returns I will see if he can add anything to this discussion.

          You can remove it, but there may be spores/it may appear again next year.
          Don't worry.
          Fungus are not normally harmful or a problem.
          In fact they are essential to life on earth.
