You've probably seen some of the comments that get posted under you tube videos, they are often very sick.:OUCH:

You Tube needs to get some propper mods, i'm discusted by the stuff they let people say that remains un moderated.

 

Yes I saw that Ziggy and was very pleased that he got caught. I am sure the thought of anonymity is an encouragement to many such activities including riot and theft.

Many years ago I suggested that everyone should have a personal bar code tattooed on their forehead. It would make life so much simpler and quicker at supermarket checkouts and airports etc.

The barcodes at the library can now be read even when covered up by a pile of other books. So there should be no problem for the police to identify hoodies. Perhaps the same barcodes could be used to log on to the internet.

 

This will always happen while people can make comments anonymously, I think it brings out the worst in some people!!! :(

I see they're making excuses for why he did it too. I get SOOOOOOO sick of the "feel sorry for me, I did this because I've had a hard life " load of C R A P!!!!!

 

I'm glad this horrible weasel got sent down, but 18 weeks isn't much. Its hardly worth the cost and administration involved. He should have got longer.

As for sickos no longer being able to get away with it, unfortunately I doubt that's true.

Here in the UK, we have plenty of laws about what we can and can't do online. As a fail safe catch-all, we have the Misuse of Computers act to fall back on if none of the other acts of parliament quite cover the offence.

The trouble is, the internet is not specific to a particularly country, and furthermore its architecture and out dated protocols mean that anyone who wants to say or do horrible things and not get caught, can usually do so, if they know even the basics of the technical details of the internet. Everything is traceable, but it's all about making the trail as long as possible, so it takes a long time time to find the source, by which time the perpetrator, who may have been in a cyber cafe, has walked on.

Security is catching up, which is why more people get caught up to no good, but it needs a very significant change to the underlying architecture of the internet before we can get to the point where we can catch everyone.

I've been banned from about 5 forums for being a 'troll'. I don't think trolls are people who mock dead people to their family, tbf. (In my teens)

I just liked winding people up, and was pretty good at it!
