You have often stated that the BBC is purveying fake news.
So how much BBC news footage do you see a month?
Them the US and no doubt every other autocratic regime on the planet.

Excuse me, never said that statement ever. I probably said something like the media gives out fake news, and most do. I never identified any news station attached to that statement, please go find it. you will not be able to. guess you are fabricating lies about me.

Their Direct TV has a channel called BBC America and I have not seen much on there other than dramas and snippets of watered down UK news. I watch that station and the particular broadcast being vilified, as far as I know, has never aired here on that station. This recent uproar, yes. I watch US news programs out of New York city and Buffalo and occasionally Chicago. This kerfuffle is recent news to most audiences south of our border.

I also regularly read the Washington Post, New York Times also our National Post, Calgary Sun and Montreal gazette at least once a week. Nothing there either prior to the Trump sue threats.

Yes, the BBC's handling of the facts was deceptive but the reaction regarding the Trump situation is extreme. Trump called our Reagan ad lies but it was actual footage that yes, had to be cut to fit a time frame, however it was not rearranged and we also quoted the link to his speech in it's entirety, to prove the intent of Reagan's decision/speech at that time and the ad did not distort anything. Still Trump had a hissy fit.

The man who wants to be King had a tantrum that has carried in for weeks.

Trump must have many people whose sole job it is is to dig up perceived insults no matter how old it is.

That said, as mentioned before, our CBC is very slanted... but nobody here watches it :heehee:

Correction:I watch it Sunday mornings to see my beloved Corrie Street

The one thing that hasn't failed to amaze me through this whole mess with the BBC is how many people are leaping to it's defence and saying that this is all down to 'bad actors' trying to take down the BBC, or Trump's crew confecting rage/offence etc.

The blunt truth, whether we like it or not, the BBC got caught red-handed having broadcast something that was created/manufactured to make it look as though something was said when it clearly wasn't. The excuse that it was a "mistake" is nothing other than tosh - that was a deliberate act. If you believe that is OK, then you are part of the problem.

What is worse, it is not the first either - we've had the Gaza scandal recently where they got their knuckles rapped over that, or the articles where they pushed the idea that male's breast 'milk' was as good for babies as women's, or the trimming of interviews with David Cameron where they got caught snipping the end of the interview to change the context... and that is before we scratch the blister that is the propensity for their staff to be kiddy-fiddlers etc.

There is no organisation that is perfect, that is a given, but these are not mistakes, these are quite deliberate actions and are then followed up by trying to sweep things under the carpet rather than deal with them properly - and all the while, virtuously puffing it's chest out as some sort of moral guardian and preaching at us (often literally) as to how we should think and behave. Millions spent annually on BBC Verify, yet it cannot get it's own output to be honest and factual - more like BBC VeryIffy.

I'd like to see the BBC reformed, but sadly I think it is utterly incapable of it, not least as it cannot properly admit to itself just how badly it has gone wrong.

If the likes of GB News or Sky News was pulling the same stunts, the very same people that are defending the BBC would be baying for them to be shut down - and they are ultimately private businesses in their own right, who put their own money on the line to create their output; the BBC is playing with OUR money.. money that we are FORCED under threat of custodial sentence to pay, even if we don't watch or use their services.

Just like the NHS, it is a failed institution and until that is accepted, the decline will continue.

No; his tantrums are thrown as a distraction to keep people looking overseas and away from him and his administration; he doesn't want people looking at the current shutdown of the US government or the Epstein files that may or may not mention him.

Oh dear the UK has stopped sharing intelligence about the Caribbean with the US, apparently UK lawyers can find no legal basis for the US blowing "narcoboats" out of the water.

The NHS has just one purpose.
The BBC is not just one channel.

I wouldn’t know by any accounts where your negativity fits to describe programmes like Digging for Britain, Fake or Fortune, just to give you some examples.

I would agree with @Fat Controller. The BBC has changed over the years but not for the better. Anyone can see how their reporting has become biased but, to this day, they deny that. Why did Fiona Bruce interrupt her own QT programme to impart the news that Andrew was to lose titles and the subsequent glee on her face and the applause from the audience. Why hasn’t Tim D and the CEO apologised for their mess up( and getting caught out)? That certainly was not an error, it was a deliberate act.
The whole organisation is dire. I’d like to see it as a subscription platform.

A subscription model would force them to dump the stuff viewers don't want, but might penalise people who are alone and like the TV on as background company.
