Trump really has a puzzle on his hands with this Iran conflict. He knew how to get out of Viet Nam but this is different!

 

It'd be funny if it wasn't all so horrific for those being bombed to bits, losing lives, loved ones, homes, livelihoods and the huge costs involved which could have been invested in improving lives, infrastructure and the environment @CanadianLori

I'm not condoning the actions affecting the plight of these people. In fact I'm poking fun at Trump the aggressor.

I am not unfeeling as you seem to insinuate and intend no meanness.

That said, I'd advise you to select to ignore my posts to ease your discomfort. Easy peasy.

 

It wouldn't have been used on that though. Making weapons is very lucrative for the wealthy. Helping ordinary folk with services, etc, is not. Once you have made the weapons, you need an excuse to use these up ... so you can make some more. Then you fleece everyone with your rebuild contracts, whilst you bomb somewhere else.

 

Well this morning: Trump says we are talking to Iran and have found someone we can do "business" with and Iran says we not talking to anybody meanwhile the war goes on.
Question 1: can the person Trump claims to be talking to actually convince the other top Iranians to go along with the deal they arrange; or are they keeping quiet to preserve their own skin.
Question 2: If the talks are making progress and the Iranians are desperate for a deal why is Trump shipping the 82nd airborne out to the Gulf to meet the marines arriving soon.

 

The marines are going to get the special present Iran has given Trump, the one that he won't tell us what it is.

I reckon it's his half of the strait of hormuz.

 

Meanwhile Starmer is still WORKING on getting tankers though the Strait.

He's been doing that for some time now apparently.

Does anyone know what is actually going on.

 

Trump now seems to be passing the buck to his 'Secretary for War', Hegseth. Implying that he was the one who wanted to attack Iran, not Trump. Trump was certainly claiming all the credit when he thought everthing would be over in a few days.

 

Trump seems to be becoming more and more strange, I think he's going to end up like Biden.

Really they need to find younger applicants for the job, too many geriatrics being put forward.

 

No he isn't like Biden. Biden was gaga and harmless, with other people preventing him doing anything too stupid.
Trump is an extremely dangerous narcissistic, megalomaniac with nobody controlling him or his actions.

 

@CanadianLori I meant no offence. Taken on its own it is funny but seeing all the senseless destruction going on is just too horrific. Remember that on a forum you can't hear tone of voice or see facial expressions so please don't be so quick to infer criticism of you.

@ViewAhead you're right, under Trump it never would be wisely spent but decent people do care aboout these things. Pity they're not the one in government.

@NigelJ as far as I'm aware Pakistan is acting as intermediary and the US is not talking directly with any Iranian let alone negotiating an end to the conflict.

@pete it is true that geriatric leaders don't live long enough to see the damage they cause, or the good in a few rare cases. However, the main problem with trump is we already knew about his dishonesty, misogyny, racism, bankruptcies, paedophilia, bullying, bribery, bigotry, anti-environmentalism and utter disdain for ordinary folk.

 

Yeah but apart from that I dont think he was senile when he got elected.

 

They were saying this morning where is Vance, he's keeping a low profile.
Will he make a move for the top job at some point and wants no part of this war.
He is notable in his absence, on our news anyway.

I don't think we should wish for Vance. Well, women shouldn't at any rate, as he has some very peculiar religious views about our "place".

 

I'm not wishing for Vance, just wondering what's going on under the surface.
Maybe we could see regime change, for the better or worse we dont know but maybe that was what they wanted, regime change.
