@redstar I would love everybody to buy produce grown as near to home as possible. The problem is that somehow they manage to ship food from the other side of the world and still sell for less than it can be produced in the UK

i even get fresh eggs, laid that day 10 min drive from me. I have the mushroom capitol of the world down the street from me a 30 min drive. Like i said, Amish around everywhere, some just have roadside stands with honor purchase. Put the money in the slot and follow the prices listed, take the items you want. My eggs are self-serve, put the money in the slot, leave empty cartons for them. Sometime driving there at the end of a driveway you'll see a cooler, and you know eggs are inside, no one around, just pull off grab a carton, put money in the little coffee container and drive away.

We have places that do similar out in the countryside.
Mostly eggs but sometimes other things, apples when in season or other fruit.
Put money in box and help yourself.

Honesty boxes were very common and popular round here until cash in pocket became a rarity. Not much chance of paying with a mobile phone when there’s no signal.:frown:

We have a few farm shops around here where most people pay with cash, its not all local produce but lots of it is, mostly the veg.
You're never going to get local oranges or bananas.

Trump will be accepting a lavish 747 as a gift to ‘temporarily’ replace Air Force One. It will arrive towards the end of his term, will be upgraded by the US Air Force paid for by the US taxpayer, and then transferred to his presidential library, so he will have continued use of it. He certainly knows how to look after his own interests!
How does he get away with it? Even some of his more loyal supporters are raising concerns.

I think he needs to get approval first, or at least a normal president would. The multi billion dollar golf course they are building and the real estate deals in the area aren't profiteering from the presidency because they are done in the family name and not his.

Air Force One was due to be replaced in 2024 with a Boeing 747 8; however it is late and will first fly in 2026 with delivery 27/28. The final cost for the two planes being bought is going to be about $5 billion.

I don’t think I personally would get into a Boeing plane these days. They seem to be plagued by accidents and loose parts.

There was a joke many years ago about a Presidential library burning down and the President being furious. He hadn't finished colouring in the books! Not about Trump but it seems to fit the bill perfectly.

He wanted to change the livery of the new air force one when he was in last time but Biden changed it back. I actually think the proposed change made it look more like an American plane but went against the traditional colours.

Boris got in enough trouble with the media over here for accepting a pair of aviator sun glasses and a bike from Biden, I wonder what would have happened if it would have been a 400 million dollar plane.
