Not an expert, but I would guess the trees were actually dead.

Hey well latest is its still surviving and as for how deep in pot I have put it to the same level as was in the pot. It has had a good watering after the storm last night. Think I have cracked it . Will do another photo tomorrow....

I was going to say that we had late frosts this year which could be responsible for killling the blooms, but if the tree itself is dying I'm at a loss. Hopefully someone else will be along soon.

I've heard of pear cider, but never pear wine - sounds lovely .. just don't do the tree naked (neighbours and all that )

I'd go with a balanced NPK (7-7-7) mix just for now. Ideally some organic feed such as rotted manure would be preferable. Don't overwater the tree either - too much water can be just as detrimental as too little.

If the tree has been regularly pollarded and it shows good strong growth year after year, then generally you can continue with it. Problems arise when a mature tree that has never been majorly pruned before is suddenly pollarded.

Thanks it does indeed look like this - It really does seem to be taking nicely in my garden so hopefully it will look fab when it develops some colour!

I agree with Spruce and add what might be an idea in preparation would be to dig round the outside of the root balls and cut through any roots the trees have made since you planted them, effectively root pruning them in preparation for them moving. They will then be easier to move when the time...
