I bought this lovely plant today and it said Angelina on the sign but I cannot find anything on it.

Does anyone have any clues? I've not seen it before.

That is truly lovely, LoL - but I can't help at all, I'm afraid, not even give any suggestions for Pete to disagree with... :D

I love those elongated stripey parts of the flowers - like Victorian swimming costumes...... I know - I have an odd imagination!

    [IMG] Hi LoL,
It looks like one of the Achimenes longiflora, or other names are Cupid's Bower, Hot Water Plant, Monkey-Faced Pansy, Magic Flower, Orchid Pansy .... At least that what it looks like to me. Couldn't find that one, but they come in all sorts of colours... Also found this link...

Hope it is some help, but if I am wrong I bet somebody will know..... ;) :D

    :D :D , dendro, trust you!

I forget I grow houseplants outside here so didn't think to look in my houseplant book!

Thanks for that, Marley, but I do't think it is an Achimenes. I know of the Cupid's Bower, Hot Water Plant, etc, but these flowers are quite different and intricate intricate.

Could be, strongy, they are Portuguese here, strangely enough, and the nursery people are a mixture of Portuguese, Dutch and German. Will look that up but I didn't come up with anything beginning with Angel ...

It has the look of something similar to columnea, but upright.

LoL, I've not grown it but seen it in my catalogues and looked familiar, might try it next year. Colours can be engineered so it could be a new one. It seems the breeders want to have every colour of every plant and are not content to leave some species with their natural restricted colours. Wait for the yellow geranium( pelargonium) it is on the way, yellow Impatiens and Petunias are here so anything now is possible, I prefer the original colours but I am probably in a minority.

Evening, strongy. After second looks, it could be the bottom right hand one but mine is much stronger in colour.

It's a fab little plant and according to other things I've looked up now, a perrenial with me! :D :D So I shall find a nice spot, nay, pot I've got no corners left the rock is taking over, to put it. It is a real beauty and so delicate.

Thank you so much for id-ing it.

Yes, I've seen the yellow Impatiens and Petunias here. The one garden centre I go to nearby is Dutch, so ...

My Surfinas for my two wall baskets are deep purple and a strange pinky orange, there were also orangey yellow ones!

Must ask this as I can't remember (old age, remember?) I thought Surfinas were the same sized flower but massively trailing. These are teeney, weeney little flowers and trailing, is that correct?

There is another surfina (surfinIa) called million bells(in UK) which has a smaller flower.
the orange/yellow ones are sometimes known as Terracotta. ;)

Tis true, strong, they are listed as million bells here as well as surfinas (not extra I) and it is a tiny flower. There are lots of lovely colours, all quite odd, to be honest!

I'll take a pic of mine when they fill out a bit.

Yet again, thanks, nice to have a nurseryman around! [IMG]

Strongy, you've confused me now. Surfina I know but I thought Million Bells was Calibrachoa? I was sent some from Florida - vermillion one, and a lovely terra cotta - pretty plant, but I didn't think it was a petunia.

Now here's an interesting question, Fran, because I thought million bells looked different to surfina ... [IMG]
