I've just potted on my basil and will probably put them into a big pot to grow by the kitchen door.
I so love the taste and smell [IMG]

so do I - especially on tomatoes. I did some seed, but find it much quicker to buy some from supermarket, divide it up and plant it out - they do it so well - oh what a cheat!

there was a thing in gardeners world mad a couple of months ago about why supermarket basil always dies - basically no root system. I can never keep it alive so I would say it's quite a feat to keep it going - definitely not cheating!

I never had any problems with supermarket basil dying..just the opposite really.
I just repotted it into a 6" pot and stuck it in the kitchen window.
It grows like crazy and needs a good pruning with the scissors every so often to keep it under control.
The lower stems eventually turn woody and the plant is reminiscent of a privvit hedge after heavily cutting it back [IMG]
