I'm growing courgettes for the first time this year and seem to have a problem with the flowers. Today (really hot and sunny!) the flowers came out in the morning and had closed up and started to shrivel by lunchtime.

Is that normal? I am wondering whether they may have had too much sun but i thought they would have liked that! I also made sure they had plenty of water so can't work out what else it could be??

The male flowers (without the baby) often appear before the females (with the baby). Did the flowers have a long stalk, or a shortish stalk with a baby courgette behind the flower?
