If you could invite a couple of people for dinner and discussion, past or present, who would it be and why?

My first choice would be Mary, Queen of Scots. I would love to find out what sort of person she really was, whether very clever or naïve.

My second choice would probably be Billy Connolly, not only for his humour but his interest in other things, music, his journeys and occasional spells acting.

There are several others but these are top of the list. :)

I love this question. I don't even need to think about it. Temujin, better know by his title (which is a title, not a name as many believe), Genghis Khan. I'd like to find out how a boy raised in a tiny remote community grew up to be the one of the most successful military tactician, diplomat and leader of all time.

The second person would be Belinda Carlisle circa 1990, just cos she was very fine.

Interesting choice in Genghis Khan Clueless. :dbgrtmb: I'll lower the tone by saying I know someone that owns a car called Genghis. I think I have a picture of it too. :)

Nothing wrong with naming a car after a great leader. As long as its a good car.

Brothers? How does that work? All cars are female.

Not my choice of names and they don't sound very feminine do they. :)

Good morning ,its a very difficult question to answer for yours truly as whoever I chose I would only know them from the outside and my perception of them could be totally wrong;)

I shall play safe and invite all the Admin team from Gardeners Corner, that would guarantee a cracking dinner party:yes::smile:

You need a national treasure so it would either be Alan Bennett or Stephen Fry.
From the world of sport I would invite Valentino Rossi.
My historic name would be Rembrandt.
Out of the world of leaders I would choose Clement John Atlee.
And just for the crack I would ask Paul Merton along too.

Top of the list has to be David Attenborough and also John Simpson, because they would be fascinating to listen to.

I met David Attenborough last year. A nice guy. He seems very happy with kit Kat's and sausage rolls though
