Have you noticed over the last week or so with the decline of the gardening year the threads have moved?

We spent most of our time in General Gardening Discussion now it looks like the time is spent in Non Gardening Discussion. :)

Yep. Its a shame too in a way, because (in my experience at least) the dormant season (winter plus a bit) is anything but dormant.

This is the time of year when we get to do all sorts of prep work for next spring. Stuff that may not be practical during the growing season.

To give just one example, I've been preparing the ground for new hedges over the last couple of weeks, and in the next couple of weeks those hedges will be going in.

        You are right Sheal,

There will be clearing up, digging over, fertilising (oo er mrs:heehee:)

we've already started on the leaf mold, green manure crops & the like to discuss, but the Gardening year is slowing down now.

Then there will be planning next seasons crops, ordering in seeds, new stuff & hopes, swapping seeds & plants & hopefully a Christmas Doctor Who to get us thru the Dark.

Personally, i've got the new greenhouse to install, need to get some sort of wind barrier up after the disaster of this years crop threnching winds.

Oh, and I need to get the home ready to sell before the next onslaught of the glaciers as we roll into the next phase of the current ice age.

Clueless, Ziggy, you're right there. There is a lot of prep work to be done out there. I haven't been able to get near my gardens for weeks apart from mowing the lawns.

After seven weeks of builders in my place and three weeks of clearing up, I'm now making curtains. Mind you with the weather backside up at the moment it's not nice to work out there. :(

Below is what I've beeen putting up with, it's so good to have the place straight again! :)

I've never heard that term before, but i guess it means something like 'a bit rubbish'. That being the case, that's what big comfy coats and woolly hats are for:)

I'm picking, pressing & storing apples, clearing/digging ground, constructing supports/bed for another two poly tunnels(covers go on in the Spring), bottling/pasteurizing/dehydrating/freezing, seed saving, constructing new raised beds & planting overwintering garlic in them, preparing new raspberry beds, planting fruit trees/bushes (bare rooted plants from last autumn brought on in pots), collecting leaves, digging up spuds, picking tomatoes, flowers, planting window boxes/tubs for winter, etc.

But <25% of threads are non-gardening.
