I am Dutch and in Holland we eat a lot of endive. Often cooked, but also raw in potato stew. For this I have been growing escarole endive (type Cornet de Bordeaux) which is broad-leaved as opposed to curly.

I’ve sowed it in June and harvested it from November. I sowed some more in August and these have stood over winter (without protection) and are doing well now. Winters in Somerset are not too bad!

On the packet it says ‘sow in August”. Has anyone experience with this endive, and what happens if I sow it now?
    Thanks! Love A.

      Hi

I haven't grown this for years but what I do know if planting direct into the soil in the garden you will have to wait until all the frost are over with but if you have a greenhouse you can start planting now but the same don't plant out until all danger off frost has gone or if you have cloche's they would be useful
