I can't remember if it was on this forum, but someone had built a mini trebuchet, and said the instructions could be downloaded from the web.

I was planning on building one with the boys for a holiday project, so if it was any of you, could you point me in the right direction of a web page, please?

    Thanks

    HB

Daren't let my boy see that link! He's had a thing about trebuchets since he saw Jeremy Clarkson fling a car with one! As for the other weaponry on offer-breaking out in a sweat at the thought of the damage
Would be good to fling slugs into the field though  .....maybe I'll just have another look at that site... :D

    I like it! :D
There might be a problem with verifying record claims- and would the slug have to be undamaged at the end, as in egg-rolling? :D

trebs aren`t toys, afterall they were designed to kill people and knock down walls originally ;)

Even a small "toy" sized beasty packs a real punch and the arm tip speed can far exceed 80mph.. so don`t get in the way of it!

Projectiles sometimes launch vertically and also backwards so expect the unexpected and wear a hard hat lol.
I`d recommend the f2k (aka: FAT2K, falling arm treb 2000)
10lb of counterweight and a frozen lemon = 450ft. Quite respectable for a 3ft machine.

An Onager is another option which uses twisted rope instead of falling weights, the arm moves like lightning so.. mind your fingers ;)

HB, Here`s a nice site for plans of various "tiny" trebs

Thanks chaps - I fully understand they are not a toy. I thought it was time the boys started to do more grown up projects, and having two budding scientists, it is a good way of channeling their energy. I will be VERY surprised if it did work, but could be fun finding out (fully superivsed, of course...)

Will let you know the results later in the holidays!!!

I`m sure you`ll have a lot of fun building and testing them.
From experience, it`s a good idea to build at least two, otherwise you may have a "conflict" on your hands as to whose turn it is next ;)
