I have been given a small olive tree for my birthday and would like to put it in a nice decorative pot in my large greenhouse. I have no idea of which type of compost to use or indeed, how to care for this lovely plant. It has lots of olives on it at present and I wonder how I should manage this plant?
    Any pointers?
    Heres hoping :)

    cheers, Geoff

Geoff, How big is the pot its in now.
Dont be in a hurry to put it in too larger container would be my advice.
As to compost, I think I would go for a JI no 3, with 25% multipurpose mixed in and a good bit of grit, to help the drainage.

In my humble opinion, go for nothing in particular, poor soil is actually preferable ... unless someone here says they get nice olives off their trees, after ten years, of course.

    Sorry, pete ... [IMG]
