My uncle has been growing onions for yonks, not much he don't know about them, I started growing them from seed last year.

My uncle has grown several 3kg specimens, I wanna try for a 4kg one.....

    Any suggestions?

I have a well prepared raised bed and have sown both "Kelsae" and "Mammoth" which are coming on strong in the greenhouse.

Sorry Vince. I have several reputations on GC. The first is that I am a GOM. The second is that I take the P**s (along with Shiney, Daitheplant and several others). The third is that I wrote a very good book on DIY brain surgery which you can buy fopr only Ã?£29.99. [IMG]

Vince, the only bit I remember about growing big onions is nitrogen up to the longest day then change to potash. [IMG]

The more leaves you can get the bigger the bulb, and the plant slows down leaf production after the longest day.
Thats what they used to say, but maybe modern thinking has changed.
