..So proud of myself...I have snatched four nice fat seapods from some garden that had flowers overboarding the fence onto the pavement. I don't know what flowers they are but they are like quite tall fluffy daises - more fluff than daisy - in various colours.

The seeds are very well protected inside the pod and they are about a couple of mm long, dark and end up in fluffy cream colour end. (surelly there is a word more appropriate that end)

Wouldn't it have been easier just to knock on the door of the house and asked the owner if you could have some of the seed pods instead of helping yourself to them.I am sure they would have gladly given you some for free...Glad you don't live near me:mute::D

No, It wouldn't have been easier to knock and ask, but aside from that, the stems were well away from the fence into the street, and as I know whatever overboard the borders of the property is not part of it.

But I really would like to hear more opinions...

Sorry Mira but the law is quite clear on that one, if a plant or tree overhangs your property then you are allowed to cut it off at the boundary but the cut off material still belongs to the owner of the plant.

But we'll keep quiet about a few seed pods:heehee:

Have you found out what plant it is yet ?

    Oh! Dear!!

I have in my custody a couple of Buddleja [ or is it Buddleia ] thingies that aged parent grew from cuttings from two plants that were overhanging a railing in one of the Royal parks!!!

Will she end up in the tower? Or does the statute of limitations apply. It was about 20 years ago!!!!!!!

:D Talk to Shiney about that one :WINK1:

It only usually comes into play with neighbourly disputes, like fruit falling & often Lelandii.

With my Neighbour's Lelandii, I ask him if he'd mind me trimming branches that are battering my house & he lets me. Sometimes he wants the branches back for cover for his Pheasants, sometimes he tells me to keep them for firewood.

It works well for both of us:dbgrtmb:

look...first I will find out who lives there ( not "the gardener of the year award winner" for sure)...and then I may well go and knock at the door and confess that I took some dry bits from the overgrown plant which were practically slapping in my face as I was walking past, on the pavement....and I have never done it before.

Chances are that I will get the whole plant.

Blimey, it's only a seedpod from an overgrown garden, hardy a heinous crime and yet poor Miraflores is getting more of a grilling than Rupert Murdoch :heehee:. I've taken seed pods mainly from public/municipal gardens in the past, they were only going to blow away otherwise. If it was a well tended garden obviously that would be a different matter.
