Well done, Elaine. Corn on the cob is my favourite. Our friends here have a veggie patch and we "share". I supplied them with some sugar snap peas and sweetcorn. They planted the sweetcorn, went off to England for about a month and came back to discover the rabbits had eaten them all!

Hi Scotkat, last year was my first attempt at sweetcorn and so i was a bit dubious, especially when the man in the next allotment said he`s never had much luck on account of the dodgy climate here in the North East.I can`t tell you much about how to grow baby corn but there is a note of a one called Minor in my book that is ready for harvesting when the cobs are about 4inches long.I started mine off 2 per 3inch pots and removed weaker seedling(they don`t like root disturbance)in a cold frame in early May.You could use peat pots but that`s up to you. They take around a fortnight to germinate.Harden off before planting out in early June in blocks(so they can pollinate) or when seedling touches glass. They are ready about late August early September. To tell the truth i just followed what it said on the packet and they turned out OK.
