I have two established trees at the end of my garden and I was looking at some ideas to make the back of my garden look lively and more colorful... I came aross this pic where the tree is surrounded by shade loving plants in pots and some hanging baskets...
I do not want to spend too much money on pots, does anyone know where to buy cheap terracotta pots, in north london.. or near Watford to be specific..
Tried ebay but you have to pick the pots up and they are usually miles away... backyard-landscaping-ideas-garden-decorations-4.jpg

Can you make some wooden troughs or raised beds around the tree out of decking, wooden fencing kick boards or even pallets if you strip them down.

I've seen those wooden hanging baskets advertised on ebay, they tend to be used for Orchids, was going to make some my self as they look a bit different.

I prefer plain terracotta pots for my planters . Problem is at your big Garden centres they can be pretty expensive , and they do get broken quite regularly. B and Q sometimes sell pots off cheap you just need to keep an eye out there. But possibly the best place are the big cheap Mega discount warehouses . Ask around and you will have something near you , you just have to register . The one near my office is JTF but these are only located in the North.

You have to be patient with ebay and regular run a search for pots with, say, 15 miles of you. After all, you've got about 4 months before anything starts growing again to find them.
