Cant you see? Trump started calling things fake news, because he didn't agree with it. Now you are using the same term for things you don't agree with.
I'd say there is more to it than that. You can be against racism without taking the woke view that every white 4 yr old needs to be taught they are an oppressor and every ethnic 4 yr old needs to be taught they are the oppressed, or that raising an eyebrow is a micro-aggression that must be quashed, sometimes with severe consequences to the "offender's" career. You can be against discrimination against trans people whilst still holding the view someone who self-identified as a woman the day before yesterday should not have instant access to a female space where undressing takes place. You can be against indoctrination without wokely insisting that anyone who expresses a different view to yours makes you "unsafe" and must be stopped. You can be a socially responsible, sensitive, thinking member of society without being woke. Woke is a form of very oppressive authoritarianism, with the added smugness of "I am a good person and you are a vile bigot for not swallowing wholesale anything I spout" added on top. It is just as dangerous as far right dogma.
I blame the internet. It’s invention has changed to course of the whole world…..including the human race. Common sense has disappeared and I’m just grateful I am the age I am and not a young person living in this awful world. I fear for my grandchildren although they do appear to be a rather level headed group of youngsters at the moment.
No four year old of any ethnicity, gender or religion needs to be taught to be an oppressor; it comes naturally to them. A four year old will oppress anything smaller, quieter, furrier, having a different number of limbs or is less sticky or smellier than they are. Just look at a soft play area or a kid's birthday party.
@pete it is widely accepted that the billionaire owners of the media in the USA are ignoring facts about the economy and crime rates to stoke up fear of certain groups - usually brown skinned - to foment division in voters. It's a recognised political tactic to identify and demonise one group of people in order to control others whilst quietly passing laws that favour the rich and their acquisitiveness, all the while removing rights and freedoms from the "lower" orders. Anyone who bothers to do even a brief online search will see that the USA economy has always done better under the Democrats - more jobs, better pay, more security - whilst Republican presidents hike up national debt and reduce the economy, jobs, social and personal security. Murder rates also go up under the republicans and are significantly higher in republican controlled states. Organisations such as Fox News do not do balanced or even truthful reporting of what is going on and its amazing just how many of their former staff now hold prominent positions in Trump's govt, especially the Defence secretary who has no military background at all. Outfits such as CBS have sacked prominent presenters in order to appease trump and get approval for a multi-billion dollar merger for parent company Paramount.
Elon Musk planning a move in to the electricity supply game in the UK ??? I sincerely hope that's just more fake news.
I sincerely hope he brings the price down and brings some common sense into the UK energy market. The price of energy is what is killing the economy, and the generators are raking it in.
An interesting pair here: Chip deal: Why the US is taking a cut from China sales Trump calls for Intel boss Lip-Bu Tan to resign over alleged China ties Guess which company didn't volunteer to pay the Government off.
Puzzler, @NigelJ. The problem might be he wrecks the energy market, and then either goes bust or withdraws without warning, @pete.
