Just adding a follow up to the above. The woman who found the boy was talking to a colleague at work the following day about what had happened. That colleague is the grandmother of the boy! Incredible coincidence, but coincidence none to less.
A couple of days later the childminder called the boy's mother effectively trying to claim that the whole incident was a set up to discredit her. The mother still hasn't had an apology for what happened. The childminder has tried blaming the child because he wandered off, then the conspiracy theory.

Has your great-nephew regained his confidence, @KT53? Hopefully the incident will fade from his memory quickly.

Childminders are pretty regulated these days, so this sort of thing is probably rare now. Time was anyone could set up as one with zero oversight, no rules about numbers or care quality, no record keeping, etc.

@ViewAhead We'll have the answer to that later today, although he seems OK. He has since been to the play area near his house.
His Nan and my wife have taken him to the same park where the incident happened, but have absolutely no plans to let him out of their sight. :-)

Final update on the little fellow. He had a great time, charging around running his Nan and my missus ragged. No obvious concerns, which is great. My missus is fast asleep in a chair at the moment.

How come football clubs in Kazakhstan get to play in European competitions, they're over 4000 miles away, the other side of the Urals so definitely not in Europe.
While on the subject Eurovision Song contest with Australia in it what's that about.

I've just read your post @KT53 re your great nephew. That childminder should definitely not be allowed to continue working with children. My sister was a child minder for many years, and she'd be horrified if she heard that story. I think some people regard it as an easy ticket, and don't understand what the job involves, and how much responsibility it is.
                  Glad he's recovering

I don't understand the Australia/Eurovision thing either @NigelJ , although I have no interest in it. Not sure how that came about.

Maybe it's cos half of Oz is of European origin especially British, Italian and Greek. Other than the Aboriginals, the rest of them seem to be Asian/Pacific so we'll have Vietnam and Korea next. KPop at Eurovision anyone?

Australia taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest was meant to be a one-off event, but for some reason it was decided to let them participate again. The logic defeats me.
Geography never was my strongest subject, but even I know Australia is a long way from Europe.
My OH is still hoping that Kylie Minogue will represent them one day :wub2:.

Israel has been in the song contest for years, but who cares, it's not actually a song contest anymore anyway, it's just a joke.
As for the football I don't know where khasakstan is at I'm not I would want to go there, I hope the tournament isn't held in the UK as all the team would probably claim asylum.

@pete It's in central Asia, with a couple more "stan"s to the south and Mongolia to the east and Asian Russia to the north. Not one bit of abutts anything European in either land mass or culture. However, they were once one of the Soviet republics so may have European rather than Russian aspirations after all those years of Soviet rule and their proximity to China which has also expressed territorial expansion in Tibet and Inner Mongolia.
