I had something similar happen to me; a young woman on a phone stepped out in front of my bike one evening. I just clipped her and ended up landing on the kerb, fracturing an elbow and earning a night in hospital, front wheel a mess, quite lucky really.
She was quite upset that the chain strap on her "Gucci" bag had snapped, never asked at all about me and just rang her boyfriend to get picked up.

Is that Christmas day, if so I assume they will be paying the staff treble time.

If it's just their Christmas period festive meals I doubt they will get many takers.

I expect it is Xmas day, @pete. I have no problem with staff getting triple time, but even given that, it seems a lot for a microwave-reheated turkey dinner and a £3 M&S (let's go upmarket in honour of the occasion) individual pud! ;)

I hope you all enjoy it. My phone is too old to receive it. I shall live in blissful silence. :)

At least he let his guests talk. As for his distinctive tones I rather liked them.

My son already has this in America for tornado alerts. It is quite noisy apparently.

Last time they had one of those my sister was driving. She said she nearly jumped out of her skin it was so loud.

I'll know when it happens as the last one set all the many, many neighbourhood dogs off on a barking frenzy. :th scifD36:

                      Completely ridiculous idea, IMV.

@Tinkerton - the pushchairs [facing forward] should be used when the baby is a bit older, and can then interact with the wider world, rather than just whoever is pushing the pram. I used to point things out to mine so that they could learn various bits and pieces as they got a bit older, and before they were walking by themselves etc. Usually birds or plants
Mind you - with the state of the wider world, not sure I'd want to interact with it!
Nowadays, I'd probably be saying 'look, there's that a***hole that lives along the road from us and constantly plays loud music late at night ', or 'there's the a***hole who's always speeding and can't park properly' ....

My dad also had something similar except it was a snooty old woman and he didn't go to hospital, even though he probably should have (he's a paramedic who doesn't like hospitals). She also came off lightly and didn't care one jot for causing the accident.

Anyone for double speak? To set the scene..

I placed an order with Harrod Horticultural on 8th August for one of their metal pergolas. No mention of it being out of stock. I got a reply saying that it should be with me within 7 working days.

After seven working days were up, but with no further communication from them, I sent an email asking about progress. I was told that email responses would take two days. No reply after two days.

After two days, I phoned and was told that an email had been sent within an hour of mine hitting their desk. Nope. They sent “a copy” of it. This said that the pergola was out of stock “due to popular demand”. I would now get it on or shortly after September 12th.

After two more days, I got another email to say I’d now be receiving it by DX delivery on September 1st.

On the 1st, DX was showing no signs of having been told this. Silence.

Yesterday their site said that it had been despatched to them. I should get it by their “three day service”. I assumed that meant that it would take three days for them to get it to me, not that they only work a three day week.

Anyway, this morning, I checked their site again and saw a new message there that they had no record of my order at all. Either they’d tried to deliver it and been unable to or it was an old order and now off their books.

I emailed Harrod Horticultural and this is part of their reply by way of helping me to understand how my order is doing. Gobbledegook? Or is it me being thick?
