It would be nice if someone called John Innes tried it.

Given how long bones last in my garden I would need convincing that the bones would be digested in the stated period.

They could be ground down for bonemeal.

Maybe a marketing opportunity for compost sellers. “A free terramation with every ten bags bought.”

Haven't bodies been "composted" for thousands of years already? Chucking someone in a hole and burying them will do the job. I'm not sure why humans always think on such short time scales as to think it needs to be done instantly.

Because your cousin is waiting to plant out his tomatoes and Uncle Bennie will be just in time to do the job.

But you need to be careful what you wish for. When our dog passed we planted a phygelius next to her, it grew up and up, through our neighbours tree and got 10-12ft high, the one in our front garden without the extra nutrients stayed a modest 5ft. So you might end up needing a ladder to pick your tomatoes.

This is from the BBC article

I want a compostor like that: place a chunk of flesh (appr. 80kg), bones and whatnots, a handful of straw and alfalfa and hey presto- two months later you have wonderful, crumbly compost

Or you could sell the bones to a company that makes Bone China. That is exactly where the name Bone China comes from. :blue thumb:

Woodland burial is available for those seeking it. Land sold for this purpose is at a premium; often beyond building land values .

I'd probably become a bed of stinging nettles.

Sounds like a way of spreading disease if appropriate temperatures not maintained. Think mad cow disease.
