    Sadly, that is the only image I have. Thanks for looking. Not a plant we have in the garden so I could not have supplied this one to the questioner. Odd.

    Thanks Palustris..oddly enough it does help...in so far as it nicely eliminates things.
    Ozothamnus was a million miles out!

    It looks as if those are dead flower heads...maybe places it in Asteraceae?

    Can you please ask....
    What colour were the flowers and when did it flower?
    Is it evergreen?

    Glad you've got Silver surfer on your case, sure she will solve the mystery. I haven't an earthly what it is altho there is something annoyingly familiar about it. I think I may have seen something very similar growing in a garden right by the sea but could well be wrong.

    To me it looks a little thymne-like.... But surely you would have been then able to identify by smell!
