what oil for mowers?

    I have a honda mower and just wondering can i use my good quality car oil in it?

    Most mowers use SAE 30 labeled for horticultural 4 stroke engines, I would say you will probably get away with 5W 30 or 10 W 30

    its a Mountfield SP474 will have a look in the shed now.

    got some but its fully synthetic car oil 5w 30 is it ok?

    I think it should be ok.

    However be aware that you might invalidate the waranty if you get a problem with the engine.

    Definatly go with what your manual advises or an expert garden machinery centre. My Brother runs his own centre and makes a good living when folk mess up:dh:
