Leaving flower bulbs in ground

Hi

Im de weeding apply cardboard topped with mulch on my flower beds with tulips, poppy and bluebell bulbs, is it ok? Because I think they are quite a lot in numbers and getting them out and storing them feels like a massive job :(.

Why are you putting cardboard on your flower beds?

 

Because of excessive weeds and the season for these flowers r out n i hope until there next season cardboards and mulch will dissolve in the soil

 

If the cardboard does disappear into the soil then the bulbs will be o.k.

 

I would not do that ever. Just put 3 inches of mulch down, not the cardboard. Heavens NO. I have 100,000 bulbs, some have been there for 26 years.

Before laying down any cardboard/mulch, you will need to know which type of weeds you are trying to deal with. If they are perennial weeds, there is a very good chance they will return.

 

Let the bulb duel commence.

Im re-landscapping my garden would like to get a tip from you... how deep and when should I put bulbs in a way that my flower beds remain blossomed almost all year round???

 

So what kind of bulbs I should plant? Some hardy whites names please?

 

Besides the above from @ARMANDII . you need to get a good bulb catalog. And read the description, they will tell you which month it blooms in, early part of the month, late part of the month, mid part, and how long. Get your self a small calendar and lay out the names in that part of the month they come up/bloom. To my knowledge the latest blooming are in the Allium and Glad family. (those need a very sunny location) Even today, when I take a walk around, I measure what gap is missing and I find the bulb that fits that gap of time, and order it for fall planting. Your not always going to get the exact "type" you like, but to me all flowers are beautiful.

And yes you have to know what type of sun/shade they like. For example I can plant the very early short tulips, as they will come up before the trees get their leaves. But if that shade were there, they would not do well. the typical tulip, we have to find the sunny location for them.

Take your time, my gardens are now 26 years old. And I am still not done.
