can any one tell me why nobody has come up with a stump rooted parsnip? there,s stump rooted carrots but not parsnips why?

 

Hmmm... don't know, thats got me stumped

 

I have been growing stump rooted parsnips for a coupel of years as I found that when I pricked out self set seedlings into vending machine cups and then set them out into the ground instead of having a nice long tap root and on them they tend to go stumped.Next time we get over to the lottie and Mr Kandy digs up a couple I will show you what I mean

Know what you mean though but I expect most people want them with long tap roots as you get more parsnip for your money that way

 

yes but harder to dig up and more prone to snapping plus in the winter months when I want mine they and me are covered in mud
