On the day that I was told that a vehicle management contract that I have will be shrinking over the next year and then cancelled because the company is moving to Germany. I sort of knew that it would come as the owner, who is as British as they come (and even still buys British cars :yikes:), cannot survive without European engineering graduates and (to a lesser extent) skilled European engineers. He felt that any tariffs would be unimportant as his company is very niche, highly regarded in its field and sells worldwide already to the aerospace industry, motorsport clients and large scale high volume manufacturing operations.

Obviously I'm not worried about the loss of the work as the timescale kinda fits in with my plans, but a local VAG specialist who I contract a lot of the work to is very disappointed. Fifty cars and vans averaging 32000 miles a year is a bit of a loss.

Cor, did you get a whole day?

Teresa May appears to have only given her Cabinet Ministers the opportunity of an overnight reading of the 600'ish pages of the proposed agreement before they have to make a decision on the UK's future for many, many years.

If Brexit doesnt happen now democracy effectively dies in the UK. What will be the point in talking, arguing, and then voting peacefully on a matter if the result is ignored anyway ?

Another thing that will die will be the UK's foreign policy. Who will listen to a British politician lecturing them on democracy and respecting the peoples wishes when at the same time they have ignored the vote of the British public?

I could not have put it better if I tried.

The line "or no Brexit at all" being slipped out last night just proves to me that my thinking all along has been correct, and we are heading back to the polls having been bullied into submission; to all intents and purposes, this is World War III without any weapons.

I predict that the timeline now will be:
          - Parliament will reject the deal and will call another referendum, the choices being "exit with Theresa's deal", "exit with no deal", "stay in the EU" (wording not precise)
          - The Great British Public, having been scared witless about predictions about what "might" happen will vote to stay in the EU
          - The EU will rub their hands, the UK becomes more of a laughing stock than it already is on a worldwide basis, we will have even less of a voice in the EU, we will be paying more into the EU (net)
          - Slowly, the country will sink under the weight of uncontrolled immigration and the fact that democracy has died.

Sure, there will be a lot of people who will breathe a sigh of relief that 'sense has been seen' but ultimately all that actually means is that all their tantrums finally meant they got their way - that, is not democracy.

Oh, and I forgot that there will be a creeping annexation by China (it has already started..........)

It's all being staged - to justify a no deal brexit - which is what Tes wanted all along. Barney won't be happy - his 39 billion is looking a bit dodgy.

Disagree - TM desperately wanted to be seen to have made a deal for Britain and tried (and failed miserably) to emulate Maggie.

Unfortunately, amongst many of the "snowflake generations" there's attitude of "Why can't someone else do it?"

We've three grown-up kids who (like ourselves) never had any extra priveleges when growing up. O.K. They did have good educations, but we gave them all a start by making sure they could do some basic reading, get themselves dressed in the morning and tie up their own shoelaces, before they started at primary school. They all got themselves good jobs, by sheer personal application. None have ever been on benefits.
Over the years I've interviewed a few hundred young people for jobs. Some had the same attitudes, but far too many weren't bothered enough to make themselves presentable before coming to an interview. The attitude of, "they'll have to take me as I am," seemed commonplace.

                      Employers, won't, it's a "buyers market."

At our age people have to take us as we are, we've earned the right, as we've "been there, done that and bought the t-shirt."
