I'm pleased I cut the grass yesterday afternoon; no gardening today so I'm about to take Bron over to M&S in Pudsey for some well deserved retail therapy.

We had a few showers yesterday, despite it supposed to be dry. Today it’s supposed to be wet, but at the moment my two throws are blowing dry on the line. Hope to get them mostly dry before the afternoon rain arrives.

 

Grey start but the sun is out now, rain is forecast for later in the day. High of 16C.

 

colin it's not called that anymore, it's climate change when we get extreme weather. Like a lot of rain for the north and droughts for the south.

Hi,

Nice one Jiffy. The only time it would be classed as Climate Emergency where Bron and I live would be five consecutive days and nights without Blackie or Gale present; I'm sure the army would be called in to hand out bottled water because the reservoirs would have dried up.

We've been out this morning then back home had dinner. I said to Bron I'm off up the mountain to do a bit of gardening; putting on my old clothes; body warmer and cap as soon as I stepped onto the patio Blackie put down the rain and it's still coming down; well done Blackie for your split second timing and Gale too is present at the moment with just a gentle breeze; I've suffered this pair of pests too long so I'm at last going to buy a set of waterproofs; enough is enough; our neighbours gardener Paul is visiting a local supplier where he's buying new waterproofs and he's going to let me know how he gets on.

Paul's visiting us tomorrow because I've taken on his garden machine servicing after Paul has been ripped off a number of times; I can do the work just as a hobby the only cost to Paul will be parts against receipts; no labour cost at all because if I want money I'll get a job.

Paul had his van broken into a few months ago and all his gardening kit stolen which obviously distressed him; he had just got set up again when two weeks ago on a grass cutting job out in the wilds his gardening kit was stolen again. Paul is an hard working honest family man; Bron and I feel sorry for him because he's taken advantage of. A short while ago I repaired a petrol mower for him saving him £300 on buying a new mower; we've just given him a big petrol Spear & Jackson hedge trimmer; it's not been used for a couple of seasons because I've gone cordless so it was sitting in the garden hut already fully serviced. Tomorrow dinnertime Paul is bringing another petrol mower to my workshop; his previous rip off service guy installed a control (Bowden) cable but it's the wrong cable being too long and Paul has it fastened up with cable ties; Paul knows nothing of mechanics so he's come to the right guy; shortening a control cable is an easy job for me.

Bron and I don't mind in the least helping Paul out because it's so rare these days to find someone so honest and genuine; poor Paul though was overcome when we handed over the hedge trimmer restoring a bit of faith in other people. This little kindness cost us nothing and I enjoy tinkering with machinery. Why are so many people these days greedy and nasty with it?

Just after 3pm and it's another wet black hole; Time now to catch up with emails.
